Family
Services
Caregiving is a 24/7 job, especially when there is a child with special needs in the family, with hardly any respite care. This is enough to wear down the strongest of individuals. We have various family services to empower parents to develop their sense of self-worth, self-esteem, and personal fulfilment that can have a positive ripple effect on the entire family. We encourage parents to engage in skill development and train them in entrepreneurship and product development. At Tamahar, we believe supporting parents of children with special needs is crucial for improving family dynamics and overall well-being. Tamahar also trains parents to become primary therapists for their children.

Mental Health Services
The sad reality for most caregivers is the feeling of loneliness and helplessness along with lack of respite. Our family vertical offers access to multiple programs that support the emotional strength, connection, and resilience of the family unit. Support groups activities for fathers, mothers, and siblings help them come together, bond and support each other. Families can also opt for individual counselling sessions with our psychologist whenever they feel the need. This integrated approach helps alleviate the negativity felt by families when they navigate the 24/7 caregiving

Caregiver Training
Parents armed with knowledge and skills to become primary therapists for their children enhance the development of the children. At Tamahar, parents receive ongoing training through structured Caregiver Awareness and Training Course and a hands-on experience to actively practice their knowledge. With an open-door policy, families are encouraged to meet staff and management to further equip them with essential tools and confidence in their caregiving journey.
Skill Development Program
We offer entrepreneurship training for unpaid caregivers, empowering them to achieve financial security and independence. In turn, caregivers play an essential role in training adults in our Pre-vocational and Sheltered Workshop Programs, opening multiple vocational opportunities of gainful employment for them. Together, they form a supportive ecosystem where both caregivers and adults with developmental disabilities grow in confidence, skills, and an improved quality of life.
