Children Programs

Tamahar currently works with 125 children across all its programs and locations. Each child is part of a journey tailored to their developmental needs, helping them grow into their fullest potential.
Tamahar is a registered non-profit organization working in the field of childhood disability, focusing on children with developmental disabilities caused by brain damage. This includes conditions such as Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Down’s Syndrome, various rare diseases, and genetic disorders that result in moderate to severe disabilities. We provide comprehensive assessment and rehabilitation services to children with special needs, along with support services for their families. Our approach involves delivering interventions based on the developmental age of the child and training parents to become primary therapists.
We serve children aged 0 years and above, coming from diverse socio-economic backgrounds. Our holistic, trans-disciplinary model combines Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Physiotherapy, Vision Therapy, Music Therapy, Yoga Therapy, and structured sessions in arts, dance, sports, and education to foster well-rounded development.
Tamahar’s unique strength lies in our focus on developmental age and skills rather than chronological age. We use a criterion-referenced observation system that maps a child’s growth across all developmental domains, helping us set personalized intervention goals that build on existing abilities and bridge the gap towards age-appropriate milestones. This makes learning more natural and engaging for our children.
At Tamahar, we believe children deserve more than survival—they deserve joy, fun, and the freedom to just be kids!

Early Intervention

Our flagship Early Intervention program is meticulously crafted to empower children with developmental disabilities acquire skills aligned with typical developmental milestones for children aged three, thereby laying a robust foundation for their future growth and learning. The program focuses on personal-social development, especially  self-awareness, interpersonal skills, adequate self-care skills, and communication abilities, as well as basic cognitive development. We utilise behaviour modification techniques and augmentative communication tools to support and accelerate each child’s growth during these critical early years.

Nursery

Our Nursery program is a school-readiness bridge, designed to enhance the development of children up to the age of 4. It focuses on teaching foundational concepts that prepare children for formal education, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills for a smooth transition into school life along with improved social-communication and emotional development.

Functional Academics

Our Functional Academics program supports child development from the age of 4 and beyond, offering formal education focused on literacy, numeracy, and essential life skills. Using Montessori methods and materials, we teach languages, mathematics, and environmental science in a way that integrates real-life applications. Concepts are reinforced through activities such as non-fire cooking, story time, and exposure visits, allowing children to bridge abstract learning with practical experiences.  These extra-curricular activities ensure a wholesome personality development. Additionally, the program offers National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) opportunity for children who are able to pursue higher education.

Prevocational Training & Sheltered Workshop

This program is designed for young adolescents and adults aged 15 and above, equipping them with essential skills to pursue vocational training. It focuses on product-making, workplace behavior, life survival skills, and self-advocacy, preparing participants for greater independence and meaningful work opportunities.

Recreational Activities

Our recreational activities provide children with the opportunity to have fun, explore skills to develop hobbies and enjoy life. Engaging in weekly Tabla, Sports, Keyboard, and Dance, etc, allows children to look beyond survival, nurture their interests, develop new skills, and engage in creative expression in a supportive and enjoyable environment.

Auxiliary Therapies

Besides the developmental age-based, trans-disciplinary intervention provided to all children, we also ensure children get individual Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, and Vision Therapy as needed, ensuring a comprehensive treatment plan under one roof. Yoga Therapy and Music Therapy are provided to all children, promoting both physical and emotional well-being.

Assessments and Tests

We offer comprehensive assessments and evaluations conducted by a certified clinical psychologist, covering IQ evaluation, Learning Disabilities, and behavioural disorders in children.

Exposure Visits

Exposure visits allow children to utilise their skills in real-life situations outside the classroom. These experiences promote appropriate communication, socialisation, and self-regulation while helping them build confidence and adapt to new environments.
